Climate Change Bill campaign success!
Thanks to your persistent campaigning, the Government and announced that they will toughen up the Climate Change Bill and cut the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions by 80% rather than 60% by 2050.
This is great news, by passing this Bill the UK is likely to be one of the first countries to pass national laws to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Your voices have been heard. But we still need your help.
Despite advice from its own expert Committee on Climate Change, the Government does not plan to amend the Bill to include the UK’s share of emissions from international aviation and shipping. As a result the Bill is still critically flawed.
MPs will vote on the Bill on Tuesday 28 October.
We have a short window of opportunity to tell them that the Bill is still not strong enough to ensure the UK makes its full contribution to tackling damgerous climate change.
We need you to contact your MP now to ensure that the Government passes a truly world leading Bill on climate change.
